Larry Page is super excited!
From this evening’s Google earnings release:
“I am super excited about the growth of Android, Gmail, and Google+, which now has 90 million users globally – well over double what I announced just three months ago.”
Roughly six months ago:
“I’m super excited about the amazing response to Google+ which lets you share just like in real life.”
For the record, he skipped the opportunity the quarter between:
“Google+ is now open to everyone and we just passed the 40 million user mark. People are flocking into Google+ at an incredible rate and we are just getting started!”
Btw, 90 million users for Google+ is pretty solid. I assume Google is massaging the number somehow — I’d be surprised if 90 million people per week are writing or reading posts on Google+, or whatever. But it’s still not bad, even starting with Google’s initial user base.
Unlike, say, Wave or Buzz, it’s pretty clear that Google+ isn’t going to be something that Google sweeps under the rug in a few months. That’s worth being super excited about.
