Samsung acts like it doesn’t want HP’s PC business
From the official “Samsung Tomorrow” blog:
The recent rumors that Samsung Electronics will be taking over Hewlett-Packard Co.’s personal computer business are not true.
We hope this clarifies any confusion that may have occurred.
Well, okay. It’s possible that Samsung doesn’t want to buy or partner with HP’s PC business, which HP is trying to get rid of.
But I wouldn’t trust a blog post alone for that information. In fact, if I ran Samsung, the first thing I’d do is to order up a blog post like this one, making it look like I’m not interested. (With all sorts of gray area and loopholes.) Why drive up my own bid?
Blog post or not, I wouldn’t be surprised if Samsung, Foxconn, and other Asian electronics giants each take a look at HP’s computer division. It makes a heck of a lot more sense than a Microsoft-HP tablet JV.
